Why therapy?

Why come for therapy?

Would you say your childhood was fine but can’t identify many times where you felt happy? Do you experience feelings of emptiness, struggle in relationships, or find yourself always doing things for other people who never return the favour? Do you feel like you have never fit in, never belonged, never had a family or childhood home or that you have to be someone else when you are around other people? Has something changed in your life and now you’re finding it hard to adjust? Do you struggle to understand why you do some of the things you do?

You are not alone in feeling the way you do. There are many reasons why someone may wish to attend therapy. Many people seek therapy when they notice repeated behaviours and feelings that are at odds with being able to live the life they want to. Others seek therapy when the way they have coped in the past, stops working, or when faced with something new. Whatever the reason you are seeking therapy, you are not alone.

Without help, it can be hard to know how to process experiences and feelings, identify what you’ve never had, and to know what to do about it. Many people find it helps to have a therapist alongside them while they undertake personal development.

I make every effort to offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space that also brings a sense of calm, warmth, and openness. It can be difficult to reach out. When you feel ready, you will be welcomed.
